Matthew 16:1-4

Both the Pharisees and the Sadducees see Jesus as a THREAT so they devise a plan to TEST Jesus.

Matthew 16:5-12

Sometimes we just don’t GET it.

“The yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees...”

There are those who claim to know the SCRIPTURES, yet might lead you astray.

There are those who have AUTHORITY, yet might lead you astray.

Matthew 16:13-19

“You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.”

This is what was threatening. It’s actually why Jesus was crucified.

"For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.” (v. 18)

When you come to believe that Jesus is who Jesus says he is, it will be because God found a way to SHOW you that.

The Church is here for good, because Jesus KEEPS showing himself to people.

“On this rock...”

There is nothing that could OVERCOME the work of Jesus building his Church.

2 Corinthians 4:7

We are here FOR GOOD.

Revelation 21:25 : “On no day will its gates ever by shut”

What would it look like if we stayed here and kept the gates wide open?
